1:1 Psychotherapy
How is your practice regulated?
Associates are registered as Clinical Psychologists with the Health and Care Professions Council and adhere to HCPC and BPS codes of ethical practice. They are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and adhere to their guidance with regard to data handling. Each associate has appropriate professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
Where do I go for my therapy appointments?
We offer both in-person and online appointments. Online therapy is no less effective than in-person, and indeed for many people is more convenient and comfortable. Associates provide suitable space for sessions depending on their location and arrangement. If you are located in Czechia and opt for an in-person appointment, you will be seen in Školská 32, Praha 1, 110 00. There is an option to hold sessions outdoors, but in most cases we would first discuss this with you in-person to ensure safety and suitability.
How often will we meet, and for how long?
Ordinarily we suggest meeting weekly or bi-weekly. We do not usually offer a greater frequency of sessions than this, but can advise on alternatives if that is the kind of therapy you are seeking. In some cases it might be appropriate to space sessions out at wider intervals.
As for how long we will meet for, there is no simple answer. Sometimes the number of sessions is constrained by practical or financial issues, and in those cases we will discuss with you how we should prioritise our time together. Otherwise, our aim is always to reach a point where you feel that there has been a positive difference in the difficulties that brought you to therapy, and that you feel confident these changes are sustainable.
I am interested in psychotherapy held outdoor. What do I do?
Please indicate this when you contact us via the contact form. There are some health and safety considerations which we would discuss with you in person before meeting with you outside.
What happens in my first session?
After greeting you and settling in the space where you will be seen, an initial psychological assessment is carried out prior to commencing therapy. The assessment may take up to two 50 minute sessions. On assessment, your psychologist will be asking questions about your difficulties and their impact on your day to day life. Where relevant, they may ask about your past medical history and any relevant early life experiences which could help make sense of your current difficulties. The psychologist will then use this information to inform their initial psychological formulation.
What if I need to cancel my session?
If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, please let your psychologist know as soon as possible. We operate a 48-hour working day (i.e. not including weekend) cancellation policy, and will not charge you if you cancel in advance of this time. If you cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice, or do not attend your scheduled appointment, you will be charged at full fee. All other terms and conditions are detailed in a document that you will be asked to review prior to your first session.
